HISTORY

The society was established in 1977 as an non-profit organization exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. The objective of MSHCSP is to promote the professional development of its members and recognition of the society.

MSHCSP was founded by Betty M. Baker of Lansing General Hospital. The first meeting of the organizing committee was held in Lansing, Michigan on November 30, 1977. Members of the committee were:

We will endeavor to provide the highest quality educational programs, enhance communication, and act as an informational resource for healthcare professionals to advance their careers and to provide the skills which ultimately will result in the continual improvement in patient care within the State of Michigan.

Robert Hilbolt Award Receipients

Robert Hilboldt from Bronson Hospital was a founding member of the MSHCSP and contributed much to its success. He passed away unexpectedly in 1985 at which time the Society established this award in his memory. This award is the society's highest.

Baker/Green Technician Scholarship Award

The Baker/Green Technician Scholarship Award is named after two of the Societies founders, Betty Baker and Naomi Green. The Award is given to recognize those technicians who clearly demonstrate the expertise in their field. The scholarship includes tuition and one night lodging to the MSHCSP annual conference held in May.

Department Of The Year

This award shall be given yearly to a Central Service Department within the State of Michigan for outstanding accomplishments.

The Board of Directors will evaluate each nomination in five (5) areas: Customer Service, Education and Training, Productivity, Teamwork, and Strategic Outlook.
